Dear Members: It is hard for me to believe that a whole year has gone by since I assumed the Presidency of SELAM. I want to thank all of my Board of Directors for their continued dedication, energy, and hard work in this past year to work for our organization, and for you its members. I also want to thank all of you who served on the many SELAM committees this past year. Your energy and passion did not go unnoticed. We accomplished many things this past year and it had to do with everyone's commitment and enthusiasm. A great and educational time was had by all who attended our April Educational Conference that was focused on Mentoring From a Leadership Perspective. I'd like to thank Judith Jones, Chair of the Program Committee and her Committee members for putting together an outstanding and interactive program. It was wonderful to see many returning SELAM members and to interact with the new class of ELAM Fellows. I was sad that a few of my SELAM friends that I see annually at the conference were unable to attend this year because of family and other commitments. The conference just wasn't the same without your smiling faces and the many ideas and thoughts you always bring. The results of the SELAM elections were announced at our April Conference. The newly elected include:
President-Elect Wendy Brown Midwest Regional Chair Linda Adkison South Regional Chair Elizabeth Travis
Now that our April Conference is over, I am now Immediate Past President (A.K.A., IPP!). At the Conference, I passed the President's gavel to our new President, Joan Lakoski who brings much passion and enthusiasm to the office. I look forward to working closely with Joan during her year and of staying actively involved in SELAM once I no longer have the distinguished IPP title. I am devoted to SELAM and working in whatever manner I can to continue moving the organization ever forward and better. I hope that you also will remain committed to SELAM and to working with Joan and the Board of Directors in this next year.
Thank you all for your support in this past year! Mary Lou Voytko, PhD SELAM Immediate Past President |
